My alphabetical posting of suggested films continues today with “Whip It.” I’m not a fan these days so far removed from my youth with movies about teen angst, but “Whip It” is simply a great motion picture. Ellen Page is the star and she’s simply great – as good as in her Oscar-nominated role in “Juno” (too bad she’s become a political hack). “Whip It” is the story of a teen girl who finds herself in … roller derby! “Whip It” is the title and taken from a move in the derby match (and a song by Devo). Don’t worry if you are skittish about a so-called “teen” movie. “Whip It” is really special and it’s Drew Barrymore’s first shot as a movie director (and she’s in it, too).
I’m posting all my film reviews in alphabetical order and I’ve updated links and more on many of the reviews. Below is the link back to the full review.
