What visit to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World would be complete without taking a photo or shooting a video of Cinderella Castle. It is totally a MUST! Our family has since returned to our respective homes in Naples, Fla., and Tennessee, from a six-day trip to WDW, we did take a photo of the castle on Jan. 15, 2025. Our family was staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and went into the Magic Kingdom on that day. A third generation of our family (grandparents, parents and children) were on the trip.
I’m sure it’s just jealousy, but it’s a small world at Walt Disney World gets criticized, especially for its song. Yes, there is repetition, but it is such a sparkly song and the ride is simply wonderful, especially for the youngest guests at the Magic Kingdom. Here’s a shot of “Goofy” drawn into the pavement near it’s a small world and we got this shot during our visit on Jan. 15, 2025. Oh, yes, the official title of the ride is in all small letters … no big capitals for this ride.
We don’t really need any signs to tell us directions just about anywhere on the Walt Disney World property, but you can find them everywhere! Our family checked out Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park on Monday (Jan. 13, 2025) and here’s a shot from yesterday of one of that park’s many signs. This one is near the beginning of the park after you cross the main bridge after entering.
Our family is back for a six-day visit to Walt Disney World and checked out the Magic Kingdom on Sunday evening (Jan. 12, 2025). Here’s a shot showing the entrance to TRON Lightcycle / Run in Tomorrowland. The evening visit was quite a treat for our granddaughters. Our visit began yesterday morning at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It was a chilly evening with the temperature in the low 50s and our troupe was bundled up!
OK, our family had another extended break … but we’re back today (Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025) at Walt Disney World! Our longest stretch of not having made a trip to WDW since 2005 was from September 2019 to September 2023. Now, it’s been 15 months and our family has returned! Here’s a shot taken today during lunch at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Also, since our last visit in 2023, we have a second granddaughter and she’s making her first visit to WDW, while it is her sister’s second visit!
I’m sure it’s just jealousy, but it’s a small world at Walt Disney World gets criticized, especially for its song. Yes, there is repetition, but it is such a sparkly song and the ride is simply wonderful, especially for the youngest guests at the Magic Kingdom. We got this shot during our visit on Jan. 15, 2025. Of course, the photo is of the entrance to the ride. Enjoy! Oh, yes, the official title of the ride is in all small letters … no big capitals for this ride.
Remember what it was like at a drive-in theater? Hmmm … that’s OK, very few folks have had that experience. However, you can at Walt Disney World! Our family did lunch at thhe Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Jan. 12, 202, on the first day of our family’s most recent trip to WDW. Here’s a shot that shows one of the “cars” where you have your meal while watching the movie on screen.
We’re back! After four years, our family is back at Walt Disney World for a vacation! As any visitor to WDW enjoys, knows about or views, character “greeting” points are a popular item at the parks. Yesterday, Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023, I got this shot of “Minnie Mouse” greeting guests who wanted to be photographed with the iconic character or just get an autograph. We’re staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and I got this shot in EPCOT after we entered the park from the side entrance adjacent to the resort.
I know the Walt Disney Company doesn’t like to hear “low crowd count,” but with our six days at Walt Disney World up today (Friday, Jan. 17, 2025), we did note such a trend since it is after the school break for the Christmas and new year’s holidays and the weather was a bit cool and overcast. Here’s a shot from the Magic Kingdom that was taken on Wednesday (Jan. 15) and we usually see more guests than this in the park.
Here’s a somewhat close-up view of a gondola on the Disney Skyliner system. It got the shot on Sept. 8, 2023, as we returned to Walt Disney World for a five-day stay. It was our first visit back since 2019. The gondolas on the Skyliner are colorful, but they do not have air conditioning. You can see the slats open on this gondola that provides fresh air to the occupants. The experience is normally exhilarating (but not fast) unless the Skyliner system slows with the boarding of passengers. Then, in heat such as we experienced, it can be a little warm inside. I took this shot during my first ride on the Skyliner system, having departed the depot adjacent to EPCOT. When we were last at WDW in September 2019, the Skyliner transportation system was in the final stage of construction. So, my first order of business at our recent visit was to ride the Skyliner. It took me from EPCOT near our rooms at the Disney’s Yacht Club Resort to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, where I debarked and caught a gondola back to EPCOT. I could have gone on to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but it was just a quick trip I wanted to take.
Stunt people do flips during the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Well, so does one the vehicles. Here’s a view of the vehicle flipping over with the requisite flames blasting out. What you can’t see is that the vehicle is on a post that carries it along and then flips it. We were at Walt Disney World on Sept. 8, 2023, when we went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the afternoon after a morning at EPCOT. I got this shot during the performance of what has always been one of my favorite shows at WDW.
I was waiting for a a ride on one of the FriendShip boats to take me to Disney’s BoardWalk for breakfast on this past Monday (Sept. 11, 2023) when I got this shot at the lighthouse at the end of the dock of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and the Beach Club. The shadows of two fellow guests waiting for the vessel make for a wonderful photo against the warm rays of the sun that illuminate the lighthouse. We were just back at Walt Disney World for a four-night, five-day stay after our last visit in September 2019.
On occasion, you’ll find yourself alone on one of Walt Disney World’s modes of transportation. Over the years, my most common of this type of photo has been on a bus. However, on the morning of Sept. 11, 2023, I found myself alone on one of the Freedom vessels that plies the waterways near the Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort, where we were finishing up a five-day stay. It was myself and the two cast members aboard the vessel. Interestingly, the boat(s) or a short walk to the side entrance are the only ways to get to EPCOT from the Yacht Club-Beach Club resorts – there’s no bus service!
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has been in full swing for some weeks now at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. We were at WDW recently for the first time since 2019 and I got this shot of one of the decorations along Main Street, U.S.A. on Sept. 10, 2023, on our way to lunch at Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen. The Halloween-themed events will continue through Nov. 1 at MK.
Look close and it appears that Mickey Mouse is waving at jet far overhead at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Mickey’s on top of the world at the obelisk at the Crossroads of the World at the entrance to the park. We were at Walt Disney World on Sept. 8, 2023, when we went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the afternoon after a morning at EPCOT. I got this shot entering the park.
We’re back! After four years, our family is back at Walt Disney World! Today (Friday, Sept. 8, 2023), we went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the afternoon after a morning at EPCOT. I got this shot during the performance of one of my favorite shows at WDW: the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Studios. I know the color of the flames in the stunt production’s fire appears faked (almost Photoshopped in), but this the exact image as taken on my iPhone with just a crop. Wow. It must be a really hot fire! I took the photo with my iPhone because I chose not to take my Nikon DSLR on the afternoon trip because of rain.
Here’s the stuntman doing the opening sequence of the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. “Indiana” comes down a rope and immediately faces danger as the production unfolds. We were at Walt Disney World on Sept. 8, 2023, when we went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the afternoon after a morning at EPCOT. I got this shot during the performance of what has always been one of my favorite shows at WDW.
Here’s the view of the amphitheater that’s the home to the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. During the show you get excitement, a bolder and fire … lots of fire. We were at Walt Disney World on Sept. 8, 2023, when we went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the afternoon after a morning at EPCOT. I got this shot during the performance of what has always been one of my favorite shows at WDW.
While in your gondola on the Disney Skyliner system, you get a different kind of view of the overall Walt Disney World property as well as seeing a string of gondolas ahead of you. It’s a view from on-high and allows a different perspective of the property. I took this shot during my first ride on the Skyliner system, having departed the depot adjacent to EPCOT on Sept. 8, 2023. You can see Disney’s Riviera Resort, which opened in December 2019, in the distance.
We did lunch today (Sunday, Sept. 9, 2023) at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. We enjoyed a wonderful meal at the Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen in Adventureland and then I got this shot as I left the park. It shows the Walt Disney World Railroad – Main Street U.S.A. train arriving at the Main Street station. It is the view that all guests see as they arrive at the Magic Kingdom and it is especially nice as the train arrives at the station. We’re back at WDW after a four-year break.
We’re back! After a four-year hiatus, our family is back at Walt Disney World for a vacation! It was 2019 and pre-COVID when we last were at WDW. Today, Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023, we arrived at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and spent some time in EPCOT. Of course, my first photo posting has to be of the Disney Skyliner system, which was still under construction when we last visited. I was standing in front of the take-off point at the Skyliner depot adjacent to EPCOT when I got this shot today.
You see this pair virtually everywhere at Walt Disney World. Of course, it is Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse! In this case, they are this topiary at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. I was returning to our room on the last morning of our recent visit when I got this shot on Sept. 11, 2023. The topiary had been being moved around from the area where guests go out to the pier to catch a ride to a park or head over on foot to a Disney Skyliner depot or the side entrance to EPCOT due to painting.
Character “experiences” are a staple at Walt Disney World. I got this shot of the cast member portraying “Cinderella” (I believe she is “Cinderella”) while taking a break on a bench near the The Tea Caddy (featuring Twinings teas) at the United Kingdom Pavilion at EPCOT. It was Sept. 7, 2023, and the first of our five-day visit. The cast member was, like all “characters,” escorted by another cast member. The focus could have been a little better by being on the character and not the cast member, but, in any case, it’s a nice shot. We were staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and had entered EPCOT at the side entrance near the Disney Skyliner depot.
Here’s another scene from the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios where you see fire (no kidding … fire is a staple of the show). In this scene, stunt people played by cast members are portraying “Indy” and “Marion” and have to jump over a line of fire to escape. Of course (and no kidding), they get away and the good guys win again. We were at Walt Disney World on Sept. 8, 2023, when we went to Studios in the afternoon after a morning at EPCOT. I got this shot during the performance of what has always been one of my favorite shows at WDW.
Here’s the view from my first ride on the Disney Skyliner system as my gondola left the Skyliner depot adjacent to EPCOT on Sept. 7, 2023. When we were last at Walt Disney World in September 2019, the Skyliner transportation system was in the final stage of construction. So, my first order of business at this visit was to ride the Skyliner.
During our September 2023 trip to Walt Disney World, which was our first since 2019, my first-and-foremost accomplishment was to ride on the Disney Skyliner system. It was still under construction on our last visit and I got my first ride on it on Sept. 8, 2023. A member of the family then this week sent me a nice gift: a toy gondola of the Skyliner! What a wonderful gift! It took this photo of the gondola toy on Oct. 14, 2023, at our home here in Naples, Fla.
You see it as you enter the Magic Kingdom (after you get through security and have your MB read for your pass into the park): It is the Walt Disney World Railroad station at Main Street, U.S.A. This is a view from behind the station, or what you see from Main Street. We visited the Magic Kingdom on a low crowd-count Sunday (Sept. 10, 2023) during our family’s first visit back to WDW since 2019 – and we hit all the parks during the five-day stay.
You get to have two wrist bands when you go to the Stormalong Bay pool at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. Because of the popularity of the pool(s) for the Yacht Club and Disney’s Beach Club resorts, only guests of each resort are allowed in the pools and on the water slide. So, you get a band to denote your status at the pool! Here’s a shot I got today (Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023) as I left the pool area and a shot of my MB and pool band. We are back at Walt Disney World for the first time in four years and enjoying every minute of it.
You simply cannot make a visit to the MK at Walt Disney World and not visit (or photograph) a view of Cinderella Castle. The castle is as much an icon of WDW as is Mickey Mouse or Minnie Mouse! I got this shot of Cinderella Castle on our next-to-last day visit to WDW on Sept. 10, 2023. It was the first time we’ve been back to WDW since 2019 and it was an enjoyable family event.
Here are some guests getting the “character experience” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. “Goofy” was greeting guests next to Echo Lake, which is near the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular as well as other attractions including Dinosaur Gertie’s Ice Cream of Extinction and Min and Bill’s Dockside Diner. I got the shot on Sept. 8, 2023, during the second of a five-day stay at WDW.
Members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office get premium parking at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. We were at WDW recently for the first time since 2019 and I got this shot of three OCSO vehicles as I walked from the bus depot to the entrance of MK on the late morning of Sept. 10, 2023, on our way to lunch at Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen.

Here’s a shot I got of a cormorant that has a piling reserved on the pier between Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and the Beach Club. The same cormorant was on this piling each day that I was at the end of the pier. I got this shot on Sept. 11, 2023, as I headed over to breakfast on the boardwalk. The view is facing EPCOT, but I wasn’t headed there that morning. We were at Walt Disney World for a family get-together! It was wonderful!
It doesn’t take a genius to know that Walt Disney World is very serious about its security measures. However, here’s a light-hearted sign to remind boaters not to enter the World Showcase lagoon at EPCOT unless they have permission. The lagoon is accessible from Crescent Lake, which is the lake that’s surrounded by Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club resorts and the Boardwalk resort and rental boats are available on the lake. So, this light-hearted sign warns those without permission that there’s a restricted area ahead. I got this shot from just inside EPCOT at the side entrance near the Disney Skyliner depot on Sept. 7, 2023.

Naturally, experts won’t express any praise for the architecture across Walt Disney World (not much that WDW does earns acclaim from “experts”), but it certainly looks nice to my untrained eye. Here’s a shot I got while returning to Disney’s Yacht Club Resort on Sept. 8, 2023. We stayed at the resort for a five-day visit in September after a four-year absence from WDW. This view shows what you’ll see as you leave the back of the lobby of the Yacht Club and head to the dock for a boat or a short walk to the side entrance to EPCOT that is next to the Disney Skyliner depot. The topiary is, of course, of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse! The topiary moves as it did this day because of painting at the Yacht Club.
It was yesterday evening (Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023) while we were waiting for a couch at the Nomad Lounge at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park in Walt Disney World that this American White Ibis was foraging for food at our feet with a friend. Someone had dropped a couple of goldfish and the treat got crushed and became a snack for this bird. Of course, it was appropriate at Animal Kingdom , but birds and animals such as squirrels have lost all fear of humans and mingle just nice, thank you very much!
Over the years, I’ve taken and posted a bunch of photos of helicopters chattering over various resorts and parks at Walt Disney World. Well, our latest trip (the first in four years) is now no different than so many others. Helicopters have become more of a staple in the sky over WDW as both Disney corporate executives as well as sightseers on a tour use a helicopter. I got this shot yesterday (Friday, Sept. 8, 2023) as I left Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You’ll find it to the left of the top of the palm tree.
The clouds weren’t as prevalent this evening (Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023) as I returned to Disney’s Yacht Club Resort for the final night of our family vacation at Walt Disney World. Yesterday evening, the clouds were a bit more scattered and offered a better view, but this one is still a pretty nice way to close out our latest WDW adventure. We were back at WDW for a four-night, five-day stay after our last visit in September 2019.
Here’s the view you get while on the Disney Skyliner system as your gondola leaves the Skyliner depot adjacent to EPCOT. I got this shot on Sept. 8, 2023, during my first ride on the Skyliner. When we were last at Walt Disney World in September 2019, the Skyliner transportation system was in the final stage of construction. So, my first order of business at our visit in September was to ride the Skyliner. You can see the Eifel tower replica at the France Pavilion at EPCOT in the distance as well as the docking depot for water ferry rides to Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.
I have to say that I was very fortunate in my timing of catching rides on Walt Disney World Bus Service during our stay at Walt Disney World that ends today (Monday, Sept. 11, 2023). Of course, the WDW transportation system (from the bus service to boats to the Minnie Van Service to gondolas on the Disney Skyliner) runs throughout each day and the last bus usually leaves parks an hour after the park’s closure. Still, to not have to wait is always best … and here’s the view as I did another walk-on to a bus and this one was yesterday, Sept. 10, 2023, at the Magic Kingdom for the ride back to our room at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.
Here’s a shot of a Walt Disney World pontoon boat on the waterway that leads to the World Showcase lagoon at EPCOT. The lagoon is accessible from Crescent Lake, which is the lake that’s surrounded by Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club resorts and the Boardwalk resort. It appeared that this vessel was used for both transport of cast members as well as for security. I got this shot from just inside EPCOT at the side entrance near the Disney Skyliner depot on Sept. 7, 2023. You can see the France Pavilion to the right as visitors cross the bridge. We were on our first trip back to WDW since 2019.
Walt Disney World has a very busy maintenance staff. Besides keeping up with all the resorts, parks, etc., is when to do maintenance. I got this shot on Sept. 7, 2023, as we arrived at Disney’s Yacht Club for our five-day stay (the first since 2019). Cast members were doing pressure-washing at the resort and the play of the sunlight on the spray makes for an interesting image.
The rays of the setting late-afternoon sun illuminated the Disney Skyliner depot at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in this shot that I took on Sept. 8, 2023. You can see gondolas approaching and leaving the depot. A crew member aboard one of the FriendShip boats that ply the waterways between the Disney’s Yacht Club Resort (where we stayed for this visit), Disney’s Beach Club Resort, Disney’s Boardwalk, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort and the park, noted that the lake is called Lake Hollywood and is the only natural lake at WDW. I couldn’t find any report of that “only” fact online, but did see that Bay Lake is a “natural” waterway. Most of the connecting channels within WDW were constructed.
Of course, there’s wildlife in all the parks at Walt Disney World. Remember, I’m not writing about wildlife in rivers, waterways or environmentally friendly areas at, on or near resorts. I’m writing about AT the parks. Here’s a squirrel that I encountered at Magic Kingdom on my way to lunch at the Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen. Of course again, the creature has lost all fear of humans.
OK, so this isn’t the greatest photo ever taken at Walt Disney World. The composition at the entrance to the Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen at the Magic Kingdom isn’t good; you have part of a park guest showing on the left; and, well, it’s just boring. However, it is a photo of the entrance to the Skipper Canteen and I believe some static shots such as this one you’ll find in my 23 galleries of photos from WDW are necessary to let some folks see something they haven’t managed to explore on their own.
Here’s a shot that shows one of the Friendship vessels at the dock at Disney’s Boardwalk on the morning of Sept. 11, 2023. It was our last morning at Walt Disney World after a five-day stay and we were having breakfast at the Boardwalk. In the distance, you can see the morning sun’s rays illuminating the buildings at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort (we took the vessel across the lagoon to breakfast). What a great time we had, since it was the first visit by our family since September 2019.
While riding in a gondola on the Disney Skyliner system, you pass through a station where the track turns. It is a training station for cast members. It got this shot on Sept. 8, 2023. I took this shot during my first ride on the Skyliner system, having departed the depot adjacent to EPCOT. When we were last at WDW in September 2019, the Skyliner transportation system was in the final stage of construction. So, my first order of business at our recent visit was to ride the Skyliner.
It’s not always sunny at Walt Disney World! On Sept. 8, 2023, we were on the second of a five-day stay after not having been at WDW since 2019, when I got this shot of clouds at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I have always taken a photo that includes the S.S. Down the Hatch, which is the ship attached to Min and Bill’s Dockside Diner at Echo Lake, and this trip was no different. It was early evening when I got this shot and it shows the clouds very well.
Here’s the signature lighthouse at the end of the dock of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and the Beach Club. Guests board vessels at the lighthouse for transportation to parks. We were walking to the side entrance of EPCOT when I got this shot on Sept. 7, 2023. It was the first day of our five-day stay at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. Our last visit to Walt Disney World was four years ago in September 2019 and it was wonderful to again see the sights of WDW.
Not all views are beautiful while you’re on the Disney Skyliner system, but some are a lot more interesting as they are wonderful. Here’s a shot of the back side of Disney’s BoardWalk. I got this shot on Sept. 8, 2023, after my gondola left the Skyliner depot adjacent to EPCOT. It was my first ride on the Skyliner. When we were last at Walt Disney World in September 2019, the Skyliner transportation system was in the final stage of construction. While not much to see, it does offer a glimpse of Walt Disney World that is normally not viewed by most guests.
Here’s another shot I got of a cormorant that had a piling reserved on the pier between Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and the Beach Club. The same cormorant was on this piling each day that I was on the pier. I got this shot on Sept. 8, 2023. We were at Walt Disney World for a family get-together! It was our family’s first visit to WDW since September 2019.
Here’s a Walt Disney World cast member at the control panel for a Friendship vessel leaving the dock for Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort from the side entrance to EPCOT on the waterway between the Canada Pavilion and the France Pavilion. I got this shot on Sept. 8, 2023, during our first visit back to WDW since 2019. Interestingly, the Friendship vessels or a short walk to the side entrance are the only ways to get to EPCOT from the Yacht Club–Beach Club resorts – there’s no bus service!
The sign for the Disney Skyliner sets the stage for this photo featuring the symmetry of the walkway overhangs. We were back at Walt Disney World for the first time since 2019 for a five-day stay when I got this shot on Sept. 11, 2023. It was the final day of our visit and we took a quick trip and stopped for a quick look-see at Disney’s Riviera Resort, which opened in December 2019.
I noted in an earlier posting that Walt Disney World has a very busy maintenance staff as I got a shot of some pressure washing. Well, here’s another. Of course, the staff are called cast members! I got this shot on Sept. 7, 2023, as we walked to the side entrance for EPCOT from our rooms at Disney’s Yacht Club on the initial afternoon of our five-day stay (the first since 2019). These workers were doing maintenance on this building at the Yacht Club.
Here’s a shot from the first scene from the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. “Indy” drops down and takes the golden statue after dumping some sand from the sack that’s a counterweight. Well, you know the story. We were at Walt Disney World on Sept. 8, 2023, when we went to Studios in the afternoon after a morning at EPCOT. I got this shot during the performance of what has always been one of my favorite shows at WDW.
We’re at Walt Disney World for a little family vacation time and I’m watching my beloved University of Florida Gators play their second football game of the new season. I hope they have better fortune this week than last. We’re staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort and here’s the view of the big-screen monitor on the wall. UF is playing McNeese State in its home opener.
OMG! It’s going to happen! We’re headed BACK TO WALT DISNEY WORLD! It has been four years since members of our family ventured off to WDW. As you can see from the links on my blog, we have a long history at WDW that has been on hiatus through COVID and into 2023. Now? We’re headed back in September for a multi-day visit and we’re staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort! Oh, there will be a very special new member of our family to enjoy all the amenities of the hotel as well as parks, restaurants and … everything else! I got this shot of our MagicBands that arrived in the mail today (Monday, Aug. 14, 2023) at our home here in Naples, Fla. I’ll be able to finally post more new photos of visiting WDW. YES! PS: I used Photoshop to remove the names on our bands.
