I know more adventures are opening in the coming two years across Walt Disney World, but currently the best live stage show is Festival of the Lion King at the Harambe Theater at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Now, Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage at Hollywood Studios is great, it doesn’t measure up. I got this shot of who I call the “Fire Dude” during the first show on Jan. 12, 2019.
Along with acrobats, the performer spinning above during the Festival of the Lion King live show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park is a highlight. I got this shot during the first show on Jan. 12, 2019, during our visit to Walt Disney World.
I always enjoy this view of the flag of the United States with Spaceship Earth in the background at EPCOT. Seeing the flag always stirs a bit of patriotism! I got this shot at Walt Disney World during a visit on Jan. 13, 2019, for the Walt Disney World Marathon.
Here’s another shot of the “Fire Dude” during the Festival of the Lion King show at the Harambe Theater at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. We were at Walt Disney World on Jan. 12, 2019, when I got this shot.
Here’s another shot of the “Fire Dude“ spinning his flaming baton during the Festival of the Lion King live show. It appears he’s looking through a circle of flame. We were at Walt Disney World, The show is held daily at the Harambe Theater at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. I got this shot of who I call the “fire dude” during the first show on Jan. 12, 2019.
Here’s an “Avatar” ready to link to you on Avatar Flight of Passage at Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Getting FastPasses for this attraction has been pretty much an impossibility for most guests. We had early entry on Jan. 12, 2019, and waited less than an hour. When we came out, the wait was three hours! Avatar Flight of Passage has been the most popular attraction at Walt Disney World since it opened in May 2017, will remain so until this coming fall and the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Look out, Captain Phasma! Someone’s laughing and others are taking your photo during the March of the First Order along Hollywood Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I got this shot on March 2, 2019, as Phasma led his stormtroopers on one of their treks each day. We were at Walt Disney World on a day trip when I got this shot.
Here’s Captain Phasma as he interacts with guests along Hollywood Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I got this shot on March 2, 2019, as Phasma led his stormtroopers on the March of the First Order. We were at Walt Disney World on a day trip when I got this shot.
I wasn’t going to post another “Christmas decorations still up at Walt Disney World,” but Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom looked really cool and photographed just as cool near dusk on Jan. 12, 2019. We were visiting WDW for the Marathon Weekend when I got this shot.
Just like for Interstate-4 outside of Walt Disney World, the entirety of WDW appears it will be under construction … forever! Here’s a shot I got with my iPhone by holding it up over the fence at the work being done to update the entrance to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We were on a day trip on March, 2, 2019, when I took the photo.
For the first time, Allison and I had to leave the The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ride when there was a malfunction. I got this shot with my iPhone on March 2, 2019, during a day trip to Walt Disney World. Our previous visit to the ride in January resulted in a delay – but not having everyone leave the ride. In compensation, we all received a FastPass for any ride (except in Toy Story Land).
I have no explanation, but I haven’t posted (or taken) many photos of the “enchantress” who casts a spell at the beginning of Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. So, today, I’m focusing on her. I got this shot on Jan. 11, 2019, during our visit to Walt Disney World.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park offers a bunch of great views. Here’s one looking down a river with Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain in the distance. We were at Walt Disney World on Jan. 12, 2019, when I got this shot.
What’s that glow in the distance? Well, it’s Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom, of course. Christmas lights were still up on the castle when we were at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for dinner at ’Ohana. I got this shot while checking out the pool area on Jan. 13, 2019. It was a wonderful evening end our four-day stay at Walt Disney World for the WDW Marathon Weekend.
Here’s a very distinctive cloud that helps make this photo of a ferryboat interesting. Oh, and, yes, the silhouette is part of the winning equation. It is one of the that bring guests to and from the Walt Disney World Transportation and Ticket Center. This ferryboat was at the dock on the Magic Kingdom side of the Seven Seas Lagoon on Jan. 12, 2019, when I got this shot.
Construction speeds forward on the Skyliner transportation system at Walt Disney World. You can see a worker at the top of one of the pylons as well as seeing that the cables have been strung. I got this shot the morning of Jan. 11, 2019, when I arrived for the first of a four-day visit. The view is from the entrance area of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
I always take photos of a monorail train at . Always. Here’s another that I got as it entered EPCOT on the morning of Jan. 13, 2019. We were at Walt Disney World the annual WDW Marathon when I got the shot.

Here was our vantage point for waiting for our daughter to finish the Walt Disney World Marathon on Jan. 13, 2019. Not only could we see, but Spaceship Earth at EPCOT was in the background. We did a multi-day stay at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort for the event.
Here’s the finish line at the 6-hour 30-minute mark of the big race ending the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend on Jan. 13, 2019. Our daughter ran in the race and we did a multi-day stay at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort for the event.
Yesterday I posted a photo of the “fire dude” performing during the Festival of the Lion King live stage show at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Now, here’s a shot of the other headliner(s): the acrobats who play monkeys! I got this shot on Jan. 12, 2019, during our visit to Walt Disney World.
There’s so much to like about the live show Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. You get singing, dancing, a “fire dude” and the acrobats. The show is simply the best live performance you’ll find at Walt Disney World. I got this shot on Jan. 12, 2019.
I caught this really neat scene with my iPhone camera at dusk on Jan. 11, 2019, of the main pool area at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. We were at Walt Disney World for the WDW Marathon Weekend. It was just a little too chilly for me to jump in!
Here’s looking out when the doors open on the The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ride. I got this image just before or at the moment the ride’s camera’s flashed. The second photo is the one of our car and you can see the guest in the bottom right with “thumbs up” that I caught with my image. We were at were at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend on Jan. 11, 2019, when took the photos.

I’ve posted many photos of the ongoing construction at Walt Disney World. Here’s my latest: It is the area in front of Disney’s Hollywood Studios that used to be the tram loop from the parking lots. I don’t know what’s going in there now, but here’s what it looked like on the morning of Jan. 11, 2019, when I arrived for the first of a four-day visit.
You’ll get singing, dancing and twirling during the wonderful show Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I got this shot on Jan. 11, 2019, during our visit to Walt Disney World.
We’re back at Walt Disney World for the WDW Marathon Weekend, but we didn’t expect to still see Christmas decorations up at the parks. Here are examples from Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I got this shot on the morning of Jan. 11, 2018. Some internet sites said the decorations were to be left up until Jan. 11 at the Magic Kingdom, but not the other parks. OK … maybe they did because of the Marathon Weekend!

Some parks at Walt Disney World open early for guests of the WDW resorts. If you get in early at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park then you’ll see this: The Tree of Life with the morning sun’s rays hitting it. I got this shot on the morning of Jan. 12, 2019.
One performer is a little off with the kick in this portion of Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I got this shot on Jan. 11, 2019, during our visit to Walt Disney World.
I always take photos of the nearly omnipresent helicopters overhead at Walt Disney World. Our most recent trip was no exception. We were leaving Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and bound for a park when I got this shot on Jan. 12, 2019.

You don’t always have this much room on a Walt Disney World bus. I got this photo of this guest stretching out on the ride from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park to the Art of Animation Resort on Jan. 12, 2019. We were at Walt Disney World for a multi-day trip to kick off the new year.
Here’s another photo from the live show Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. It is a most special performance each time we see it. We were at Walt Disney World on Jan. 12, 2019, when I got this shot.
It’s no surprise that people take photos and videos … well, everywhere at Walt Disney World. Here you can see a guest getting video or a photo as we meandered along to get on the Avatar Flight of Passage ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. We were at Walt Disney World on Jan. 12, 2019, when I got this shot.
Here’s a Walt Disney World cast member in the Pandora Utility Suit outside the exit of the Avatar Flight of Passage ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. We were at Walt Disney World on Jan. 12, 2019, when I got this shot.
You know you’re in Pandora – The World of Avatar when you see this! We were at Walt Disney World and headed into Avatar Flight of Passage ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park when I got this shot on Jan. 12, 2019.
Along with Cinderella Castle and Spaceship Earth, I always shoot photos of the trains of the monorail. Here’s a shot of a train with a background of nice clouds on the late afternoon/early evening of Jan. 12, 2019. The train is coming out of the station near the entrance to the Magic Kingdom. We were at Walt Disney World for a multi-day stay for the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend.
You’ll be able to see Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge up close when it opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios this coming fall. It’s sure to be a blockbuster and the crowds will pack the park. Here’s what you can see of the coming attraction as you travel on a Walt Disney World bus. I got this shot on Jan. 12, 2019.
There’s always something to see on every part of the stage during the Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I got this shot of several of the dancers on Jan. 11, 2019, during our visit to Walt Disney World.
Sometimes it’s difficult to keep track of all the characters during the Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I got this shot showing characters and dancers interacting during the first performance on Jan. 11, 2019, during our visit to Walt Disney World.
The “monkeys” in the live show Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park are acrobats, but they do have a moment sitting (somewhat) still. Here’s a look at them during our visit to Walt Disney World on Jan. 12, 2019.
The acrobats are the best part of the Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The live show is outstanding from beginning to end, but the acrobats are the centerpiece. I got this shot during our visit to Walt Disney World on Jan. 12, 2019.
It’s Valentine’s Day 2019 today! Although they have some bumps along the way, here’s “Belle” and the prince as they dance together at the end from the Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I got this shot on Jan. 11, 2019, during our visit to Walt Disney World. Don’t worry, they’ll be doing the same thing today!
No, that’s not a spray plane over Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park! That’s the remnant of a contrail. I got this and other photos of the many contrails crisscrossing the sky on the morning of Jan. 12, 2019, during our visit to Walt Disney World. I called it “The Day of the Contrails!” I was waiting near the Harambe Theatre before seeing Festival of the Lion King when I got the shot.
Helicopters and construction are ubiquitous (along with sparrows) at Walt Disney World. Here is a photo of a helicopter I snagged Jan. 13, 2019, after returning from Allison’s finish at the Walt Disney World Marathon. We were returning to our room at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort when I got this shot.

There’s never a dull moment during the Festival of the Lion King show at the Harambe Theater at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. We were at Walt Disney World on Jan. 12, 2019, when I got this shot.
Towel animals are everywhere: Hotels, resorts and cruise ship cabins. Here’s the towel animal left on the bed at our family suite at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. We were at Walt Disney World on Jan. 12, 2019, when I got this shot.
Here’s a view from the beginning of the live show Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. This is simply the best live performance today at Walt Disney World. I got the shot on Jan. 12, 2019.
You just can’t taken enough photos showing the acrobats at work during the live show Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. We were at Walt Disney World on Jan. 12, 2019, when I got this shot.
Most resorts at Walt Disney World show movies outdoors (weather permitting, of course). Here was the scene at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort as we waited for seating for dinner at ’Ohana. I got this shot while checking out the pool area on Jan. 13, 2019. It was a wonderful last evening end to our four-day stay for the WDW Marathon Weekend. Oh, I almost forgot — the glow in the distance at the center of the photograph is Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom.
Entertainment starts immediately each day at at Walt Disney World. It wasn’t long after Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park opened that this group of cast members were performing on the drums near the Harambe Theater. I was arriving to again see the performance of the Festival of the Lion King when I got this shot on Jan. 12, 2019.
In recent weeks, I’ve posted several (a bunch?) of photos of the acrobats performing during the Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park in the Harambe Theater. Well, here’s another! I got this shot on Jan. 12, 2019, during our visit to Walt Disney World.
Walt Disney World uses the Minnie Mouse color scheme (red with white polka dots) on a variety of vehicles. Here’s one of an SUV in the transportation area of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. I’m not sure if it’s just a vehicle for cast members or if it is part of the Minnie Van Service network that offers you an alternative to buses or Uber. I got this shot on Jan. 12, 2019.
Although I took this photo of the “Electrical Mickey” as we left on Jan. 14, 2019, it is a nice metaphor shot as we will see it again today (March 2, 2019) as we arrive for a day trip to Walt Disney World. I call the structure “Electrical Mickey” for obvious reasons and it is alongside Interstate 4, just west of the main exits to WDW.
Here’s my latest photo of the construction of the Skyliner transportation system at Walt Disney World. You’re looking at the building where the gondolas will arrive at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The system will hub at Caribbean Beach Resort and is scheduled to begin transporting guests this coming fall! I got this shot with my iPhone on March 2, 2019, during a day trip.
Check this out! I noticed a speck in the top left portion of a photo I took at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on March 2, 2019. When I enlarged it, the quality of the Nikon lens on my DSLR became evident – the “speck” is a bird and you can see it has a twig or something in its beak! I’ve posted the photo as I shot it and put a ring around the “speck.” The other photo is the enlargement. We were at Walt Disney World for a day trip when I got the shot.

Captain Phasma leading a contingent of stormtroopers on Hollywood Boulevard for the March of the First Order at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a real winner for Walt Disney World. Guests line the street each time the group gets its march on! I got this shot on March 2, 2019, during our day trip to Walt Disney World.
All the Jedi-in-training, then get over to Star Tours – The Adventures Continue at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I got this shot of a group of young Jedi practicing during the show outside the ride on March 2, 2019, during our day trip to Walt Disney World.
Although there have been some cool days a couple near-perfect for the opening of the annual EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, it was a warmer than normal day on March 2, 2019, when I got this shot at Walt Disney World. As I waited for Debbie to get through security (I get to do “Guests without bags” line), I got this shot of the ubiquitous kiosk with cold drinks at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Here’s something that looks like someone used this tree at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for machine gun practice. Ah, well, it’s most likely the work of woodpeckers and not errant machine-gunners. I got this shot March 2, 2019, as we sat chatting under an umbrella from the long defunct Starring Rolls Café (it was wonderful … sad that WDW chose to close it). We were on a day trip on March, 2, 2019, at Walt Disney World when I took the photo.
The live stage show For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has become one of our favorites. It’s funny and we get snowed on. Of course, some snows are heavier than others. Here’s a shot I got of the snow in the air on March 2, 2019. We were at Walt Disney World on a day trip on when I got this shot.
Walt Disney World has many features for guests who are physically challenged either by mobility or vision. Here’s the Braille map of Disney’s Hollywood Studios that’s off the intersection of Hollywood and Sunset boulevards near the Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant and you’ll find such maps across all properties at WDW, which calls it Services for Guests with Visual Difficulties. I got this shot on March 2, 2019, during our day trip.
Here’s something we always see, but also there’s something we don’t always experience. You can easily spot the “Electrical Mickey” (as I call it) off Interstate 4 as we left Walt Disney World on March 2, 2019, after a day trip. Since it was a Saturday, I-4 was choked with traffic. We don’t usually hit such traffic since we most often leave on a Sunday.
Here’s a stormtrooper about to check me out along Hollywood Bouelvard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on March 2, 2019. The stormtrooper was under the command of Captain Phasma and the brace of stormtoopers stop along the boulevard to “confront” guests. What fun! It’s part of the March of the First Order.
I first made a habit of photographing helicopters at Walt Disney World. Next came cranes and construction. At our past visit, I shot this photo of a small airplane! I don’t believe it’s going to become a habit, but you never know. We were at Disney’s Hollywood Studios when I spotted the plane as it flew along our line-of-sight past the Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant sight. We were on a day trip on March, 2, 2019, when I took the photo.

Our pre-spring visit to Walt Disney World allowed Remember the Toluca Legs Turkey Co. shop where they sold iconic turkey legs at Disney’s Hollywood Studios? Well, it, like the Starring Rolls Café, has gone the way of the dodo. Now it’s the Sunshine Day Bar (after being renamed from the Sunshine Day Café in December 2018). We were at Walt Disney World on a day trip on March 2, 2019, when I got this shot along Sunset Boulevard.
Well, the “signs, signs” phrase is pretty stereotypical for those of us who remember the Canadian band “Five Man Electrical Band” and its hit song from 1971. Also, I’ve used it more than several times myself over the course of nearly five years posting to this blog. Still, I’ll do another “signs” for this one at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I hope these folks didn’t mind being photographed next to the sign! I got this shot on March 2, 2019, during our day trip to Walt Disney World.
The entire production of For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is outstanding. However, it’s the interplay between the characters themselves and also with the audience that makes it special. I don’t know the cast member’s name, but he has been the male lead in a few shows we’ve seen. He’s at right in the photo and has been nothing but great on stage. I got this shot on March 2, 2019, during our day trip to Walt Disney World.
Narrow the focus of your line-of-sight (or your camera’s view) and you can see wonderful design across all of Walt Disney World. Here’s a view of the Hollywood Brown Derby restaurant sign with the top of the shop behind it on Sunset Boulevard. I took this photo at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on March 2, 2019, during our day trip to WDW.
There’s always a crowd around the far end of Sunset Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. That’s because of both the The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror that you see here as well as the best roller coaster at Walt Disney World: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith. I got this shot on March 2, 2019, while we were on a day trip.
I’ve posted before how Walt Disney World equals kids and kids equal strollers. Here’s an easy photo you’ll have no trouble do, too: The stroller parking at the Disney Junior Dance Party! It’s also at Star Wars Launch Bay and across from Voyage of The Little Mermaid at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, so there’s no wanting for guests with strollers. I got this shot on March 2, 2019, while we were on a day trip.
If you have visited my blog even a few times, you’ll know I post photos I take of helicopters – especially at Walt Disney World. Here’s my latest: I got this shot while we were at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on a day trip on March, 2, 2019. We were on Sunset Boulevard when I took this photo.

It’s no surprise that there’s total attention to detail at the parks of Walt Disney World. Here’s a window along Sunset Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. There’s nothing behind the window, but it sure looks neat from the street. I got the shot while we were on a day trip on March, 2, 2019.
Here’s another view of Captain Phasma leading a contingent of stormtroopers on Hollywood Boulevard for the March of the First Order at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It popular with guests taking a few moments of a break along Hollywood Boulevard. I got this shot on March 2, 2019, during our day trip to Walt Disney World.
I like the logos across Walt Disney World and here’s an especially nice one for Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I got this shot on March 2, 2019, during our day trip to WDW.
I’m starting a sometimes feature today (March 29, 2019). I’m calling it … Where’s This (at WDW)? So, take a gander at this light fixture and ask yourself, “Where’s This?” The answer is posted below the copyright notice at the bottom of the is page. Also, here’s today’s one clue: The fixture is at a park, not a resort or Disney Springs. I got this shot on March 2, 2019, during our day trip to Walt Disney World. ANSWER: It’s a light fixture on an outside wall of theHollywood Brown Derby restaurant at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Low light means your subject can make a nice blur in a photo. Here’s a Cast Member giving me the chance for a blur as she waves her lighted wand to direct guests to seats at the For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I got this shot on March 2, 2019, during our day trip to Walt Disney World.
