OK, so we haven’t been on the newest Star Wars ride at Walt Disney World that opened in December 2019. But my co-worker Susan H. and her family did on Feb. 1, 2020. From Susan’s photos, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance looks simply magnificent and that’s the review she gave it. Here’s a shot of stormtroopers during the pre-ride runup. Of course, the Star Wars land Galaxy’s Edge is at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Ooops! Did the poor stormtrooper step in something? Ha! I’m not sure, but it is an interesting moment is several photos I took of stormtroopers at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and features the hottest new ride: Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. I got this shot on the morning of Sept. 7, 2019. We were at the start of a weekend visit to Walt Disney World.
You’ll be doing the “hands-up!” at the penultimate moment on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ride. We were at were at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Sept. 7, 2019, when I got this shot. We were visiting Walt Disney World on a weekend trip.
Here’s my final posting of photos of the Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster at Toy Story Land from our weekend visit in September 2019. I got this shot on Sept. 7, 2019, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on the first day of our weekend visit to Walt Disney World.
I’m posting yet another photo showing the Millennium Falcon at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This is the epicenter of the Galaxy’s Edge land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and features the hottest new ride: Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. I got this shot on the morning of Sept. 7, 2019. We were at the start of a weekend visit to Walt Disney World.
Here’s another shot of something I can’t identify at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. I’d say it’s the remains of a racer, but I just don’t know. We were on our initial weekend trip to Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios when I got this shot on the morning of Sept. 7, 2019. We were at the start of a weekend visit to Walt Disney World.
I’m not sure you can classify the birds and squirrels at Walt Disney World as “wildlife.” They’re obviously too accustomed to human interaction to be considered “wild.” Here’s a bird looking for a morsel on a bench outside the exit of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I got this shot on the morning of Sept. 7, 2019. We were at the start of a weekend visit to WDW.
Here’s a view you won’t often see at Walt Disney World: A near-empty line at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I got this shot on Sept. 7, 2019, in the days following the threat of Hurricane Dorian, which threatened Florida before veering away. We managed to enjoy the time before the crowds rebuilt and even had walks-ons for the newest, most popular attraction: Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Although your walk back to your car in any parking lot at Walt Disney World isn’t the most fun part of your WDW experience, you can find visual treasures. We were walking back to our SUV on Sept. 7, 2019, when I got this shot of a great vintage Corvette Stingray in the parking lot of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I never pass up a chance to admire a sweet ’Vette!
You never have to travel far for a serene view during your visit to Walt Disney World. I got this one on Sept. 7, 2019, as we entered Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to have lunch at Kona Cafe. We were on a weekend visit to see the newly opened Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios and took time for a break at one of our favorite restaurants at WDW.
I thought I’d done my final post from our rides in September 2019 on the new Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run attraction at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios. Well, here’s one more! We were visiting on the morning of Sept. 7, 2019, during our weekend visit to Walt Disney World when I got this shot. I’ve posted several similar to this, but I wanted to do yet one more. Now, I’ll have to go back and get more!
I recently posted one “hands-up!” photo from The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ride. Today, here’s another. We were at were at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Sept. 7, 2019, when I got this shot. We were visiting Walt Disney World on a weekend trip.
You can often see in photos from your ride that someone was taking a photo! Check out the guest on the back row (center) taking a photo while about to do the first drop on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. And, I guess that he took a photo of the picture taken by the ride’s camera to save a buck! We were at were at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Sept. 7, 2019, when I got this shot. We were visiting Walt Disney World on a weekend trip.
I never tire of seeing (or posting on this blog photos of) cast members at Walt Disney World interacting as characters with guests. Here’s another shot of cast members “driving” along Sunset Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I got the shot Sept. 8, 2019, at the end of a weekend visit.
You know what’s coming just after the Liberty Square Riverboat leaves its dock: It’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. I got the shot while aboard the riverboat on May 4, 2019, during a day trip to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
Here’s the landing on Tom Sawyer Island that you’ll see during your cruise on the Liberty Square Riverboat. I got got this shot during a day trip on May 4, 2019. The riverboat cruise is a nice break from what be a hectic time at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
Here’s a view of a train full of guests on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad that you’ll on get if you’re aboard the Liberty Square Riverboat. I got this shot while aboard the riverboat on May 4, 2019, during a day trip to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
The “floating head” in the Haunted Mansion is that attraction’s most signature sight. Although you’ll see many “ghosts” along the way, it is the “floating head” that you will remember most. I got this shot on May 4, 2019, during a day trip to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
Sorry about the lack of focus (in the photo because of the darkness during the attraction), but here’s a view from my boat on a ride of Pirates of the Caribbean at the Magic Kingdom. It’s the ship’s cannon “firing” as pirates attacked settlement. I got this shot on May 4, 2019, during a day trip to Walt Disney World.
Here’s a wide-angle view of the first scene with “John” at Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at the Magic Kingdom. The Carousel of Progress has a bunch of interesting back stories, including that “John” has been voiced by the late Jean Shepherd – he wrote the book that is the basis of the film “A Christmas Story” (click here for my review). Anyway, I got the shot on May 4, 2019, during a day trip to Walt Disney World.
OK, OK … so this photo’s a bit … uh, “soft” with the focus. It’s the view you get of the group ahead of you in the service elevator of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ride. We were at were at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Sept. 7, 2019, when I got this shot. We were visiting Walt Disney World on a weekend trip.
Here’s the shot you have to take when photographing your ride in the service elevator of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. It’s the group of “buzzed” characters beckoning you into the “Twilight Zone.” We were at were at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Sept. 7, 2019, when I got this shot. We were visiting Walt Disney World on a weekend trip.
You don’t have to be a football fan to recognize this king-sized football at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort. I got this shot on Sept. 7, 2019, as I returned to our room in the later afternoon. We did a weekend visit to Walt Disney World to explore the then-newly opened Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios.
Here’s yet another shot showing the view of and the “hands-up!” by guests on the The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ride. Here’s the view as you’re just starting your drop! We were at were at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Sept. 7, 2019, when I got this shot. We were visiting Walt Disney World on a weekend trip. Click here for all my photos from Tower of Terror …
Ah, with Thanksgiving 2019 today, we know winter’s more than well on its way. Here’s another view of the “snowfall” at the end of the For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We were at the end of a long weekend trip to Walt Disney World on May 19, 2019, when I got this shot.
Here I go again! I’m posting a photo from Walt Disney World of the iconic Spaceship Earth at EPCOT. We were there near the end of 2019’s EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival. I got this shot on the evening of May 18, 2019, during a long weekend at WDW.
Here’s yet another view of the daily Festival of Fantasy Parade at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. The cast member was really into her role. We were just arriving in the afternoon for our first park visit of the weekend on May 17, 2019, when I got photos of the parade.
Who’s the leader at Walt Disney World? Of course, it’s Mickey Mouse! Here’s one photo of our sighting of him on May 17, 2019. I got this shot during the Festival of Fantasy Parade at the Magic Kingdom during our first afternoon at WDW on a long weekend visit.
Here’s another view from Avatar Flight of Passage at Pandora – The World of Avatar. I got this shot at Walt Disney World right after the opening of the Animal Kingdom Theme Park on May 18, 2019. We were at WDW on a long weekend visit.
Here is one of the few photos I’m posting in my daily spot for images from our trips to Walt Disney World that was not taken at WDW. I’ve seen this vehicle here before in my hometown of Naples, Fla., but never had a chance to photograph the WDW sticker that’s alongside one for my beloved University of Florida Gators (and this isn’t a great photo by any means). It must be a wonderful family to love both WDW and the Gators! I got the shot on Dec. 1, 2019.
There are crowds year-round along the end of Main Street, U.S.A. at Walt Disney World, but the coming holiday season, especially between Christmas and New Year’s days, will be busy-busy-busy all across WDW. The crowd in this shot that I got this shot on May 4, 2019, at the Magic Kingdom will be considered average and then more crowded from there. Of course, you’ve got Cinderella Castle in the background.
Here’s view of the Haunted Mansion that you can only see from the Liberty Belle, which is the Liberty Square Riverboat. The ride, which is situated between the Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in the Magic Kingdom, is a nice respite from a busy day at the park. I got this shot during a day trip on May 4, 2019, to Walt Disney World.

I’m sure this duck’s name is not “Donald,” but it does make for an interesting photo! I got the shot after my cruise on the Liberty Square Riverboat on May 4, 2019. The riverboat cruise is a nice break from what be a hectic time at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World and we were pulling into the dock when I saw the duck.
Here’s view of the village that you can during a cruise on the Liberty Belle, which is the Liberty Square Riverboat. The ride, which is situated between the Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in the Magic Kingdom, is a nice respite from a busy day at the park. I got this shot during a day trip on May 4, 2019, to Walt Disney World.
My sometimes feature of “Where’s This (at WDW)?” continues today with the fifteenth installment. Your clue for this one is that the object is on something that moves and it can be found at a park, although versions can be found across WDW properties. I was on a day trip to Walt Disney World on May 4, 2019, when I got this shot. The answer is: Rigging on the Liberty Belle riverboat at the Magic Kingdom.
I’ll post another view of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad that you’ll only have a chance to see if you’re aboard the Liberty Square Riverboat. I got this shot while aboard the riverboat on May 4, 2019, during a day trip to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
Here’s a minor sight that you’ll see on your cruise on the Liberty Belle — the Liberty Square riverboat: a buoy noting you’re at the Twin River Bend. For your cruise, you travel around Tom Sawyer Island and the sights you see are themed that way. Here’s a shot I got on May 4, 2019. The riverboat cruise is a nice break from what be a hectic time at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
I’ll post yet another view of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad that you’ll only have a chance to see if you’re aboard the Liberty Square Riverboat. I enjoy the variety of sights from the attraction you get during the cruise. I got this shot while aboard the riverboat on May 4, 2019, during a day trip to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
Here’s another shot of guests on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World! I was aboard the Liberty Square Riverboat during a day trip on May 4, 2019, when I got the shot. The riverboat gives you different views of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Haunted Mansion than you get anywhere else.
No one likes waiting in line, but it could be worse than what you see while waiting for the Avatar Flight of Passage at Pandora – The World of Avatar. I got this shot at Walt Disney World right after the opening of the Animal Kingdom Theme Park on May 18, 2019. We were at WDW on a long weekend visit.
Two of the three ferry boats that take guests from the WDW Transportation and Ticket Center to the Magic Kingdom are named for men who managed the construction of Walt Disney World in central Florida. Here is a photo of the ferry with the name Gen. Joe Potter. Potter. He and Admiral Joe Fowler were Walt Disney’s key construction commanders. I guess Walt liked guys named “Joe.” I got this shot on May 4, 2019, during a day trip.
You get a variety of neat photos of this cast member’s character during the Festival of Fantasy Parade at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. We were just arriving in the afternoon for our first park visit of the weekend on May 17, 2019, when I got photos of the parade.
I gotta go back seven months for a photo of a colorful evening shot of Spaceship Earth. I love posting photos of the iconic sphere and I took this photo on May 18, 2019, as we were leaving EPCOT. Goofy is the character below Spaceship Earth. We spent the early evening eating specialties from around the world during the annual EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival during our weekend visit to Walt Disney World.
Wow! I know Walt Disney World can be pricey, but one of these bungalows can run you more than $2,500-per-night! Oh, but it does sleep eight out over the water! There wasn’t much activity on decks the morning of May 4, 2019, as I traveled by ferry to the Magic Kingdom and I got this shot of the villas and bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
You can get a glimpse of Cinderella Castle as you take a cruise on the Liberty Belle, which is the Liberty Square Riverboat. The ride, which is situated between the Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in the Magic Kingdom, is a nice respite from a busy day at the park. I got this shot during a day trip on May 4, 2019, to Walt Disney World.
Here’s a wider-angle view of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad from the Liberty Belle, which is the Liberty Square Riverboat. With this view, you can see the landing for Tom Sawyer Island, which is situated between the Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in the Magic Kingdom. I got this shot during a day trip on May 4, 2019, to Walt Disney World.
I’ve posted photos of arriving to and being on the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run attraction at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios. Today, here’s the scene you’ll have as you leave the attraction. We were visiting on the morning of Sept. 7, 2019, during our weekend visit to Walt Disney World when I got this shot.
At the end of Sunset Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you’ll find The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ride. We were at were at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Sept. 7, 2019, when I got this shot. We were visiting Walt Disney World on a weekend trip.
Here’s another view of a guests enjoying a ride on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The view of BTMR from the Liberty Square Riverboat is impressive. I got this shot May 4, 2019, during a day trip to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.
I may not be posting as many photos from Walt Disney World on my blog from now on, but views from the parks and resorts will remain a staple. Looking back to 2019, I got this shot while we were at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. The serene view of few guests and a beautiful morning was special after our family breakfast. I got this shot on March 31, 2019.
Here’s a mural you’ll see when you do the Avatar Flight of Passage attraction at Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. We had early entry on our weekend visit and on Jan. 12, 2019, waited less than an hour. When we came out, the wait was three hours! Such long wait times have been superseded with the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and long(er) lines that now define that “world.”
A neat cloud helps make this photo near sunset at the entrance of the Magic Kingdom. The monorail helps make it, too! I took the photo on Jan. 12, 2019, as we entered the park at Walt Disney World. We were on a three-day weekend visit.
Here’s another wonderful view as you’re in line for Avatar Flight of Passage at Pandora – The World of Avatar. We were at Walt Disney World and headed into Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park when I got this shot on Jan. 12, 2019.
The blur in this photo is from the moment your car begins to spin at the start of the Toy Story Mania! attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. I got this shot on Jan. 11, 2019, as we began our ride during a weekend visit to Walt Disney World.
I’m not sure the specifics about this gull that I photographed at the Magic Kingdom on Jan. 12, 2019. You can see one of the spires of Cinderella Castle in the background. Of course, this is a seabird, but the nearest “sea” is either many miles to the west with the Gulf of Mexico or almost as many to the east to the Atlantic Ocean. In any case, it obviously has a home at Walt Disney World.
Guests are looking for the end of line on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride. You’ll find the ride fun, certainly, but unless you’re using FastPasses, you might not like it as much after a long wait. We were at the Magic Kingdom for a weekend visit to Walt Disney World when I got the shot on Jan. 12, 2019.
It was a really beautiful evening on Jan. 11, 2019, when we were at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. We were at Walt Disney World for the WDW Marathon Weekend when I grabbed this shot as we headed from our room to the transportation area to head to a park.
I simply enjoy the performance of the “Fire Dude“ spinning his flaming baton during the Festival of the Lion King live show. It’s nearly impossible not to get a great photo during his performance. Well, here’s another for today’s blog post. We were at Walt Disney World on Jan. 12, 2019, when I got this shot. The show is held daily at the Harambe Theater at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
Well, I’m back on posting images of the “Fire Dude“ spinning his flaming baton during the Festival of the Lion King live show. Well, here’s yet another for today’s blog post. We were at Walt Disney World on Jan. 12, 2019, when I got this shot. The show is held daily at the Harambe Theater at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
Here’s another image from the live show Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Without a doubt, this is best stage show you’ll find at Walt Disney World. You get singing, dancing, a “Fire Dude” and the acrobats. I got this shot on Jan. 12, 2019.
You just can’t beat the colorful experience of Festival of the Lion King live show. Here’s a photo from the beginning of the show. We were at Walt Disney World on Jan. 12, 2019, when I got this shot. The show is held daily at the Harambe Theatre at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and it gets my vote as best stage show at WDW.
I’ve posted a photo of “What’s that glow in the distance?” before. So, today, I’m doing another. It’s Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom, of course. We were at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for dinner at ’Ohana when I got this shot while checking out the pool area on Jan. 13, 2019. It was a wonderful last evening end to our four-day stay at Walt Disney World for the WDW Marathon Weekend.
You just can’t taken enough photos showing the acrobats at work during the live show Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Here’s yet another one. We were at Walt Disney World on Jan. 12, 2019, when I got this shot.
Although everyone is tired and wants to get back to their resort, the bus depot at each Walt Disney World park has nice moments at night. Here’s one I got at the Magic Kingdom bus depot on January 12, 2019. It was a bus headed to another resort, but I certainly enjoy the image.
Here’s the view of the stage from the For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It is simply an outstanding production and it’s the interplay between the characters themselves and also with the audience that makes it special. I got this shot on March 2, 2019, during our trip to Walt Disney World.
Here’s a scene from the For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It is simply an outstanding production and it’s the interplay between the characters themselves and also with the audience that makes it special. I got this shot on March 2, 2019, during our day trip to Walt Disney World.
You know that the folks at Walt Disney World want you to be hydrated when you see a cart full of iced water and drinks right at the entrance to a park (probably from that long hike in the parking lot). Here’s the view that I had on March 2, 2019, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We were on a day trip to WDW when I got the shot.
Captain Phasma might have believed he was leading a contingent of stormtroopers on Hollywood Boulevard for the March of the First Order at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but I’d say the Cast Member in back appears to be directing the unit. I got this shot on March 2, 2019, during our day trip to Walt Disney World.
Here’s a whole contingent of stormtroopers from the Star Wars universe that’s about to begin “questioning” guests along Hollywood Boulevard for the March of the First Order at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. Guests line the street each time the group gets its march on! I got this shot on March 2, 2019, during our day trip to Walt Disney World.
My sometimes feature of “Where’s This (at WDW)?” continues today with the sixteenth installment. Your clue for this one is that the object is part of decoration at a park ride. Actually, it’s an easy one to solve. We were at Walt Disney World on Sept. 7, 2019, when I got the shot.
Here’s another view of the Haunted Mansion that you can only see from the Liberty Belle, which is the Liberty Square Riverboat. The ride, which is situated between the Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in the Magic Kingdom, is a nice respite from a busy day at the park. I got this shot during a day trip on May 4, 2019, to Walt Disney World.
It was colorful, but sad as we left our family suite in the Nemo area at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort on May 19, 2019. The colors of the resort are always enjoyable and we were leaving Walt Disney World after a long weekend when I got this shot. I’m posting this 2019 photo today because WDW is closed due to the coronavirus threat.
I get these “blur” photos at the dark areas of rides at Walt Disney World. I got this one on May 4, 2019, while I was at the Haunted Mansion at the Magic Kingdom. You get plenty of “dark” on this ride! The contrast of colors and darkness make many rides throughout the parks great fun to photograph.
