My movie reviews: RIP, Doris Day

My movie suggestion for today is … watch a Doris Day movie in honor of the star’s passing yesterday (March 13, 2019) at 97 of pneumonia. Gosh, how much I enjoyed two of Doris’s films. Both “Pillow Talk” with Rock Hudson and “The Glass Bottom Boat” with Rod Taylor are excellent comedies – “Pillow Talk” for its New York style and big-city fun and “The Glass Bottom Boat,” a spoof on 007 spy films. Doris was both iconic and a legend in Hollywood (most actors are neither; a number are one; and very, very few are both). Doris was both with a gold star. Doris was even asked to play “Mrs. Robinson” in “The Graduate,” but, in her 1975 memoir, she wrote: “‘I could not see myself rolling around in the sheets with a young man half my age whom I’d seduced.” That was Doris – tasteful and careful (although she would have made a stunning “Mrs. Robinson”). RIP, Doris. You will be missed very, very much.

So, I’m doing a daily recommendation of a movie … and they’re all movies that I’ve reviewed on this blog. Below is the link back to the original review.
