My movie suggestion for today is … an example of how a great, legendary and Oscar-winning actor can do … well, crap. Also, in “Bobby Deerfield” you have a two-time Oscar winning director who should have known better, much less done better. I’m writing today about actor Al Pacino and director Sydney Pollack and their mess called “Bobby Deerfield.” It is a story of a fictional Formula One race car driver who finds himself through a woman with a terminal illness (sorry, I’m not ashamed of the spoiler alert). Wow, is this one ever bad. “Bobby Deerfield” is just as bad (if in some ways worse since Pacino is the star) as also legendary director and two-time Oscar winner Ron Howard’s pitiful “true” Formula One story called “Rush.” Hey, don’t watch either one of them!
So, I’m doing a frequent recommendation of a movie … and they’re all films that I’ve reviewed on this blog. Below is the link back to the original review.
