Try this flick … it’s my week for big-cast, big-screen, now with ‘The Big Red One’

Try this flick … “The Big Red One.” It’s my week for recommending big-cast, big-screen war movies and here’s another one. “The Big Red One” is totally flawed by poor moviemaking and glaring stereotypes that couldn’t be overcome by either the cast or the film’s director, who himself served with the real unit in the battles depicted in the movie. “The Big Red One” is the name of the U.S. Army unit that fought across Africa; into Italy; and then landed in France on D-Day. “The Big Red One” culminates with the squad of stereotypical soldiers and their grizzled veteran sergeant in the liberation of a Nazi concentration camp. “The Big Red One” is bad, but any fan of war films will have watched it.

So, I’m doing a sometimes recommendation of a movie or TV show … and they’re all movies or TV shows that I’ve reviewed on this blog. Below is the link back to the original review. I just updated the review of “The Big Red One.”
