Goodbye to 2020: My favorite review … ‘Ford v Ferrari’ followed by ‘The Friends of Eddie Coyle’

Try this flick … “Ford v Ferrari.” HAPPY NEW YEAR’S EVE! I’m looking back on the challenging, dramatic year of 2020 and I realized that I only reviewed eight films during the year. “Ford v Ferrari” is the best of the lot, although “The Friends of Eddie Coyle” is only an inch behind. “Ford v Ferrari” is about how the milquetoast U.S. automaker set out to unseat the exotic Ferrari brand in international auto racing. It stars Matt Damon and Christain Bale and, overall, the film is really great. However, equal in acting while in a different genre, “The Friends of Eddie Coyle,” starring Robert Mitchum, in an exceptional crime drama is just as good … but, I’ll say “Ford v Ferrari” wins out by a nose.

The other films that I reviewed in 2020 are: “T-34” (Russian propaganda tank movie); Raquel Welch in the back-in-the-day western “Hannie Caulder;” the wonderfully kitschy “A Very Brady Sequel” (about that iconic TV family); and three “James Bond” flicks – “Dr. No,” “Moonraker” and “For Your Eyes Only.”

So, I’m doing a sometimes recommendation of a movie or TV show … and they’re all movies or TV shows that I’ve reviewed on this blog.
