After all, Al Pacino plays his character pretty much a Mafia schmo and Johnny Depp was just so-so as the title character. Well, I watched “Donnie Brasco” again and changed my opinion. The film is underratedly great and the supporting cast (for the most part) does a wonderful job. “Donnie Brasco” is the story of an undercover FBI agent who penetrates the mob and almost becomes a “made” member. “Donnie Brasco” is the pseudonym of the FBI agent and the work takes it toll on him professionally and personal.
