Countdown to Halloween ’22 … coming in at No. 16 … ‘The Night Flier’

OK! It’s the season of Halloween 2022! I’m doing a countdown of my 17 favorite horror flicks that I’ve reviewed for my blog … and today’s finds us at No. 16: “The Night Flier,” which is a vampire story from Stephen King. Unfortunately, the story is from Stephen King, but the movie is nowhere near the quality of the story. In “The Night Flier,” a tabloid reporter (remember when they were called that and not a recognized “journalist?”) begins investigating reports of a nighttime creature that kills at rural airports. Of course, the reporter has his own plane and begins to follow the trail of the so-called “Night Flier.” It’s a creative story, but very bad filmmaking and some half-hearted efforts by the actors.

If you can find it, “The Night Flier” looks like it came straight off a 1970s TV set and the acting isn’t up to par, unless you give it five strokes a side. The only neat horror angle is the creative makeup when you finally see the vampire … and this one will give you a quick chill. In any case, “The Night Flier” at least spells the name “Flier” correctly.

Check back tomorrow for No. 15 …
