OK, I’m at the last of four days spent looking back on the 20 films I reviewed during the year of 2024. I hope that I have a similar productivity in 2025 and take similar delight in writing those reviews.

I’ve now reviewed 404 films and posted them on this blog, along with 38 other reviews of entertainment. Click here to see an alphabetical list of all 404 films … or, click here to see a list in chronological order by release date …
Just for the record, the most-read film review on my blog is the ridiculously bad “CHIPS” with 4,652 page views. Trailing a distant second is my review of a tee-vee miniseries “Noble House” with 1,902 page views.
The good news from my 2024 reviews: There are good ones. The bad news: Not all the 20 films were good!
So, let’s get going with a look at the last two films under review from 2024:
‘Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle’ – **** – review posted Feb. 22, 2024
(2004; 107 minutes; rated R; directed by Danny Leiner and starring Kal Penn, John Cho and Ethan Embry)
Here’s your pure stoner, gross-out comedy, but its sequel is stonier and grosser (forget “Harold & Kumar’s” Christmas flick). In this one you have two buddies, one a hard-worker at a financial house and the other a ne’er-do-well who just wants to smoke weed all the time. Don’t worry about the plot … they are on a quest to find a White Castle for some sliders. They also get a totally over-sexed adventure with Neil Patrick Harris. Along the way you get racists, animals in cars, co-eds with extreme flatulence and a degenerate fast food employee. Like I said, don’t worry about the plot … just enjoy the ride.
‘Pushing Tin’ – **** – review posted March 25, 2024
(1999; 124 minutes; rated R; directed by Mike Newell and starring John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton, Cate Blanchett, Angelina Jolie)
You might not believe that a film about air traffic controllers could be entertaining beyond what happens in front of their screens at work, but you need to check this one out because it is a prime cut of drama. It co-stars Billy Bob Thornton and John Cusack and its supporting cast, while not all household names, manages to provide a solid foundation for the headliners and near co-star Cate Blanchett. The story revolves around Thornton arriving at a New York area air traffic control headquarters and pretty much immediately upends Cusack’s world, as he was tops around the joint at everything from directing planes to shooting baskets at a barbecue party. It then becomes a drama of Cusack’s life crashing around him as he never allows the planes in his charge to do. You won’t find better acting in many films.
