Hooray for Hollyweird! ‘Horrible Bosses’ is the opposite of horrible … it’s great puerile comedy!

For this year, I’m going with the reminder of the fractured phrase: Hooray for Hollyweird! Most of us love movies and I enjoy recommending what you should watch on any given day. So, Hooray for Hollyweird … and for today’s recommendation, let’s look at “Horrible Bosses” with a very sweet ensemble cast with only one Hollyweird cretin.

“Horrible Bosses” is the story of three men (Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day and Jason Bateman) with three horrible bosses, although Day’s sexually harassing boss would probably be tolerated by more than a few guys! They’re all in the same predicament and come up with a plan to eliminate the bosses (yes, literally).

You’ll be taken on a wonderful roller coaster of puerile comedy with “Horrible Bosses” – especially the scene at one boss’ home where one of the guys does a really nasty thing with the boss’ toothbrush! It is all well done and all the actors do a superlative job (even though it would be nice for the film to stand the test of time not to have the regrettable lowlife Kevin Spacey in the cast).

Jennifer Aniston, the sexually harassing boss, does a wonderful turn here as a cougar’s cougar to Day’s character, who must remain faithful to his fiancée. Aniston is a marvelous actor and is truly under-appreciated in comedic roles!

As to the rest, only Bateman continues to disappoint audiences by taking a starring or co-starring role. He’s good; he’s solid; he never drags a film down … but he’s just not leading-actor material. Still, while you’ll forget him five minutes after “Horrible Bosses” ends, he’s not bad at all.

You’ll also get Jamie Foxx as a supposed advisor in violence and murder, but he’s not … uh, oh! No spoiler alert here!

You’ll easily find “Horrible Bosses” (as well as its sequel) in the streaming universe and then you’ll definitely say … “Hooray for Hollyweird!”
