I’m not sure about the event, but a bunch of folks were flying kites (or attempting to fly one) in a large field adjacent to the Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church. I was stopped at at red light when I noticed the kites and I managed to get this shot. Luckily, I had my Nikon DSLR to take the shot … otherwise, my iPhone would have been quite insufficient. It’s not a great photo, but shows the spirit of a sunny day that could have used more wind for these folks. The photo was taken March 3, 2025, here in Naples, Fla. Note: This is the first photo of a kite that I’ve posted on my blog in the 10+ years I’ve been doing the blog! I once got a shot of a kitesurfer, but that is a little different. Click ere to see the photo of the kitesurfer … (Remember: Click on the small image for a bigger version – then click on that one for the full-size photo.)
