Hooray for Hollyweird! ‘The Hollywood Knights’ remains funny 45 years later

For this year, I’m going with the reminder of the fractured phrase: Hooray for Hollyweird! Most of us love movies and I enjoy recommending what you should watch on any given day. So, Hooray for Hollyweird … and for today’s recommendation, let’s again watch “The Hollywood Knights.” I wrote “again” because you should have already watched it at least a couple of times and once more will just be icing on the cake.

“The Hollywood Knights” introduced three actors to the big screen: Tony Danza, Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert Wuhl. Danza and Pfeiffer are just window-dressing as far as the real comedy and action goes, while Wuhl is the earthquake at the epicenter of everything.

Here is an nearly family-friendly puerile comedy from a touch of nudity to flatulence to a flaming bag of dog poop on a stuck-up citizen’s front porch. Eggings happen in “The Hollywood Knights” (remember this film is set in the 1960s and eggs were inexpensive then) as well as a unique way to strike back at a homeowners’ association party at a country club.

All-in-all, you’ll have a lot of fun with “The Hollywood Knights” … unless you’re as stuck-up as the members of the homeowners’ group. However, two of them turn out to be better suited to the teens as they cheat on their respective spouses with a casual grope at a party; fooling around on a car’s backseat; and a final effort, but were interrupted while trying to have sex on a trampoline.

Wuhl simply explodes across the screen while working tirelessly to badger a couple of bumbling cops.

So, there you have it. “The Hollywood Knights” … it’s a streaming world … find it and then you’ll definitely say … “Hooray for Hollyweird!”
