It is the evening of Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025, and I’m a little delayed in posting that this is the annual national Knife Day! It is for the appreciation of all kinds of knives … from kitchen utensils to pocket knives to the bigger ones used by hunters. Here’s a shot of the only two pocket knives that I own: both are from the Gerber company and both are excellent blades. The smaller is 40+ years old and I’ve had it as my main pocket knife for that long. The larger is a more recent offering from Gerber and is called a “Fastball” model. Gerber is coming out of a time of stagnation of making blades and back to being a top-notch custom knife maker (it is best-known today for its multitools). I got this shot today (Aug. 24) at our home here in Naples, Fla. (Remember: Click on the small image for a bigger version – then click on that one for the full-size photo.)
