Today, (Thursday) Sept. 11 of 2025 is Patriot Day in the United States of America. The day is to remember the victims of terrorism on Sept. 11, 2001, when Arab terrorists sponsored by Osama bin Laden attacked the U.S. through the hijacking of airliners and crashing them into the Twin Towers of New York City, the Pentagon and another aircraft that didn’t make its target and crash-landed in a Pennsylvania field. Each Patriot Day, U.S. flags are ordered flown at half-staff (half-mast on U.S. vessels at sea) by the current president. Here’s a shot showing the U.S. flag at half-staff at the Headquarters branch of the Collier County Public Library. I got the shot this morning (Sept. 11, 2025) here in Naples, Fla.
