Today, Monday, Feb. 23, 2026, is the final day of the Spring Festival holiday across China. It is seven days of celebrations that began on the Chinese new year: Feb. 17, 2026, and it is the year of the Fire Horse. The week-long holiday isn’t well-known outside of Asia, but it is an important occasion each year for China. I put together two photos that I took during our 2007 trip to China – we went to Beijing and Xi’an. We visited China just after the Chinese new year began on Feb. 18, 2007. The photos show the Great Wall and a flowering tree in the Forbidden City at Beijing (we arrived just before the start of spring and saw the flowering tree).
