Welcome back to my blog. Here’s my recommendation of a movie to check out today and hope you punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” OK, I’m headed back to the realm of Burt Reynolds with the simply pathetic “Stroker Ace” that co-stars Jim Nabors, Ned Beatty, Parker Stevenson and ultimate Reynolds real-life partner Loni Anderson.

“Stroker Ace” is a Reynolds vehicle (no pun intended since it’s a film focused on NASCAR racing) and, unlike other Reynolds’ “vehicles,” this one grades out putrid – even on the Burt-O-Meter! “Stroker Ace” is only worth your time if you enjoy horrible flicks, Burt or, well, horrible flicks.

Yes, Burt is title character and his name is “Stroker Ace.” Sigh. He’s the best driver in NASCAR, but can’t keep a ride because he’s, well … he’s Burt. So, Burt winds up signing a contract with Beatty’s team the (Clyde) “Torkell’s Chicken Pit” restaurant chain. So, in an embarrassing turn, Burt becomes the “fastest” chicken in the world.

Enter Anderson as the PR representative for Beatty and, in a simply woeful stereotype, she’s a virgin. Oh, golly gee! Burt’s soon going faster off the track than on one as he pursues Anderson.

In a simply stupid casting effort in “Stroker Ace,” Nabors is “Lugs Harvey” and he’s Burt’s pit crew chief. Well, as I noted in a similar NASCAR analogy in a different review, I’m a Martian if Nabors was likely to be a NASCAR pit crew chief.

So, the basic focus of “Stroker Ace” is Burt trying his darndest to get out of the contract he signed and he rallies his friends to help him. Of course, the stereotypes abound as Burt shows up his main rival (Stevenson) as well as Beatty and all along traveling on a track that leads to Anderson.

So, I say punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” and watch “Stroker Ace.” It is available for rent via a variety of streaming platforms. You will thank me later when you become a masochist and watch “Stroker Ace” today!
