OK, here’s the latest on my long journey through Achilles tendon surgery. It was just after Memorial day when I had the surgery on June 6, 2014 to repair the ruptured tendon. Now, two days before Pearl Harbor Day and I’ve had a second surgery. I have gone through a hematoma when the cast came off; a serious staph infection; and now a second surgery to close the ongoing issue with the surgical site. Now it’s back to non-weight bearing for nearly a month. Sigh. (UPDATE from Feb. 8, 2019: Due to the original surgeon’s ineptitude, I needed a total of three surgeries to complete the tendon repair; then, I had both knees replaced in 2017. All-in-all, not fun!)
