Today is June 1. And … OMG … let me repeat that … OMG, it’s now officially the 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season. I write OMG because we’ve already had a fricken’ hurricane (Alex in January) and we just had Tropical Storm Bonnie hit the South Carolina coast on May 29, 2016, as a weakened tropical storm. So, WE’VE HAD TWO NAMED STORMS – ONE A HURRICANE – AND IT’S ONLY JUNE 1. My favorite website (fark.com) poked some fun by saying that the system after Tropical Storm Bonnie had to be Tropical Storm Clyde (it’s actually Colin).
I post to this blog and to Facebook the term HURRICANE HYSTERI(A)CS because of the gallows humor usually involved with hurricane season. So today, again I’ll write that I believe the 2016 season will be a miserable one for some people and “officially” a busy one. The experts from the National Hurricane Center to weather researchers in Colorado (definitely a safe place to study hurricanes, huh?) say it will be a “normal” year. I don’t. We had a terrible January weatherwise here in Southwest Florida (too much rain) and it foretells a bad 2016 season. Click here for the first time I wrote about this.
So, I’ll leave it now … not that it shouldn’t take long for the season to really get into gear.
