Click here to read today’s movie suggestion and it is … the simply terrific “Breaking Away.” Since we start 2018 today, I believe this a great coming-of-age flick and has both drama and an ultimately uplifted spirit for the new year. Previously on the coming-of-age flick front, I suggested “Whip It” with Ellen Page doing roller derby, but “Breaking Away” is a late 1970s effort that’s even better. And on New Year’s Day 2018, I can’t think of a better film than “Breaking Away” to usher in the possibilities for a new year. “Breaking Away” is about a group of friends and bicycle racing is the frame for the teenagers’ story. You simply cannot go wrong with this one – whether you remember it or hadn’t heard of it (I can’t believe the latter).
