Today is Memorial Day 2018. You don’t have to look far for a U.S. flag at Walt Disney World! Memorial Day honors those who gave their lives in service to our country. Here’s one flag: Allison got on May 26, 2018, of the ferry the Admiral Joe Fowler as it docked at the Magic Kingdom. Fowler had a most interesting life and at the time of his death at age 99 in 1993, he was the oldest living graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy as well as the oldest living Disney retiree! Fowler served his country beginning in World War I and after World War II he was called back during the Korean conflict. He was hired by Walt Disney and oversaw construction on both Disneyland and WDW.
