With the playing of the 2019 NCAA basketball tournament championship game tonight between Virginia and Texas Tech, I’m taking a break from my alphabetical posting of my movie reviews to go all hoops with “Blue Chips.” Here’s a solid college basketball flick that, just past its 25th anniversary, stars Nick Nolte and has real NBA stars Shaquille ‘Shaq’ O’Neal and Anfernee ‘Penny’ Hardaway doing good acting work. “Blue Chips” is directed by Oscar winner William Friedkin (he got his statue for “The French Connection” and was nominated for “The Exorcist”) and, while not Oscar-worthy, “Blue Chips” is watchable, especially Nolte’s concluding press conference.
