My movie suggestion today is … to watch the remake called “Bad News Bears” from 2005 as this summer winds down. OK, so they dropped “The” in the title, but this is actually a watchable remake of a great motion picture. Of course, “Bad News Bears” doesn’t hold a candle to the original, but it’s not an embarrassment, either. “Bad News Bears” does a good job updating Little League baseball stereotypes and you won’t be in any way disappointed. Billy Bob Thornton is no Walter Matthau, but he’s pretty good telling the kids that they can love baseball, but it won’t love them back, “Kind of like dating a German chick.” OK, so PC cowboys will cringe, but it works. So, check out “Bad News Bears” – and a neat supporting turn by Greg Kinnear.
