Try this flick … watch ‘A Prayer for the Dying’ to see bad filmmaking

Try this flick … “A Prayer for the Dying.” I’m suggesting this film because it is a great example of how not to bring a novel to the big screen. “A Prayer for the Dying” has a solid cast headlined by Mickey Rourke, Bob Hoskins and Alan Bates, but is so poorly handled in post-production by the film company (over director Mike Hodges’ strenuous objections) that it just comes out as a mess. “A Prayer for the Dying” is the story of an IRA killer who has come to the end of his emotional rope, but must kill again. See, a neat storyline and you’ll find a neat supporting part done by Liam Neeson. After Neeson, you won’t find much worth watching in “A Prayer for the Dying.”

So, I’m doing a sometimes recommendation of a movie or TV show … and they’re all movies or TV shows that I’ve reviewed on this blog. Below is the link back to the original review.
