Try this flick … “Parenthood.” Here’s one from director Ron Howard and, while not among his best, is a good film. However, “Parenthood” left me disliking two supporting actors: Jason Robards and Tom Hulce. Both are excellent actors, but both have characters in “Parenthood” that leave a bad taste in your mouth – and they do such a good job that you remember it later. “Parenthood” isn’t some saccharine look at parenting … this family is dysfunctional to say the least. However, you get wonderful little turns from a young(ish) Keanu Reeves and a young Joaquin Phoenix (he is Leaf Phoenix in the film’s credits). All-in-all, “Parenthood” is not one to watch at the holidays, but a very good drama.
So, I’m doing a sometimes recommendation of a movie or TV show … and they’re all movies or TV shows that I’ve reviewed on this blog. Below is the link back to the original review.
