Try this flick … “Streets of Fire.” Here’s a movie that has a great young cast, great music and style … but it never puts it all together. “Streets of Fire” billed itself as a “Rock & Roll Fable” (of course, the idiots who did the naming didn’t know it should be “rock ’n’ roll”), but while the music is great, the action good and the actors OK … it never manages to be what it sought to accomplish. “Streets of Fire” is a story of a young singer taken captive and a guy returning home from the military to save her. It’s noir; it tries to be cool; and there’s music that fails in an attempt to be the movie’s baseline. Still, “Streets of Fire” is worth your time for Michael Paré to a young Diane Lane to Rick Moranis to Amy Madigan. Well, let’s just say that “Streets of Fire” is more than worth your time.
So, I’m doing a sometimes recommendation of a movie or TV show … and they’re all movies or TV shows that I’ve reviewed on this blog.
