Try this flick … “Wild Wild West.” Now, here’s a stinker that should never have been made. “Wild Wild West” is another of those films taken from an iconic TV show … and screwed up completely. It’s even in the film sub-genre of “steampunk” and not a very good effort in that corner of the film world. Of course, “Wild Wild West” is the story of super-cool agent “Jim West,” who must save the U.S. following the Civil War. After that? Who cares? Not the audience. You’ll find a pretty good cast in “Wild Wild West” from headliners Will Smith and Kevin Kline to Salma Hayek and Kenneth Branagh. What you won’t find is much decent work from them. Ah, well … it can always be remade again (oh, I hope not!).
So, I’m doing a sometimes recommendation of a movie or TV show … and they’re all movies or TV shows that I’ve reviewed on this blog.
