Try this flick … ‘The Cincinnati Kid’ is tops in acting, not just poker

Try this flick … “The Cincinnati Kid.” Here’s a great poker movie that’s less about poker than it is about acting. “The Cincinnati Kid” stars Steve McQueen as the best card player around … unless Edward G. Robinson is around. The two play a climactic round of poker, but it’s all the side stories of the characters that bring the game to a head. “The Cincinnati Kid” was originally set to be directed by Sam Peckinpah, but he was replaced by Norman Jewison. I’m not sure which would have been better, but Sam would have had to be on his game to make a film equal to what Jewison offers audiences with “The Cincinnati Kid” … even these 55+ years later.

So, I’m doing a sometimes recommendation of a movie or TV show … and they’re all movies or TV shows that I’ve reviewed on this blog.
