Watch It! Football season is over, but take time now to watch “North Dallas Forty.” Here’s a very flawed film, but it is based on the best sports novel of the 20th century – that’s not only my opinion, but fact (in my opinion). Peter Gent, a former NFL player, wrote “North Dallas Forty” and it is an indictment of pro football and pro sports in general – from the shenanigans of the players to the back-stabbing, hypocritical team and league officials. The co-stars in “North Dallas Forty” are Nick Nolte and the late Mac Davis, but there’s much more to the cast. You’ll have a good time watching the “Tooz” as well as veteran supporting actors such as G.D. Spradlin. “North Dallas Forty” is a seminal, outstanding novel, but the film is just so-so. Even so, … Watch It!
