U.S. flags are at half-staff today (Oct. 19, 2021) in honor of the life of Colin Powell. He passed of complications yesterday of COVID and was being treated for cancer at the time of his death. Powell was a true U.S. hero, with stellar service in the armed forces (he went from lieutenant to general and was at one point the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff). He was the first African-American to be U.S. Secretary of State. In honor of Powell’s service in the military and government, flags are being flown at half-staff (half-mast on U.S. ships) in his honor. A big salute, Gen. Powell. You more than earned it. I got this shot of the flag at the front of our community here in Naples, Fla. (Remember: Click on the small image for a bigger version – then click on that one for the full-size photo.)
