Looking on the big screen at your home today, let’s go with “Local Hero.” Here is a movie that has a pace that can only be described as “glacial.” “Local Hero” has virtually no action; no violence; and only one character raises his voice. A subplot about a rabbit is about the only discordant note in the movie. However, I’ve totally embraced “Local Hero” because of the serenity in the film and just how much you have to slow down, accept the glacial pace and immerse yourself in it to reach “full enjoyment.” “Local Hero,” which stars Hollywood legend Burt Lancaster in somewhat of a supporting role, is the story of an oil company buying a town in Scotland for oil operations and the odd group of characters involved. You simply cannot go wrong with this film.
Still, I’m sure that you’ll need to work a bit to find “Local Hero” for your “big screen” at home!
