On your home big screen: ‘Battle Creek Brawl’ offers up Jackie Chan

Looking on the big screen at your home today, you should check out Jackie Chan in “Battle Creek Brawl” (it’s also titled “The Big Brawl”). Chan’s first “big” U.S. film didn’t do well, but you’ll enjoy it – especially the fight scenes with the nunchaku and butterfly knives. Also, you get a retread “tough guy” from “The Godfather” and Mako, Jose Ferrar and Kristine DeBell as a notable in the supporting cast. In “Battle Creek Brawl,” Chan is an Asian-American who uses his martial arts skills to protect his parents business from being extorted by criminals. It all winds up in a free-for-all-to-the-death fight in Battle Creek (Texas, not the cereal capital in Michigan). “Battle Creek Brawl” is fun and rollicking, but it’s not great cinema.

You’ll have some trouble finding “Battle Creek Brawl” for your “big screen” at home, but don’t give up. It’s out there; just find it!
