Want to compare gas prices? Check out old TV shows to see what was paid in the past. Here’s a photo from a frame from a 1967 episode of the iconic “Dragnet” series starring Jack Webb and Harry Morgan. In the episode called “The Missing Realtor,” one of the clues is a gas payment receipt. Check it out. That isn’t $3.85-per-gallon, it’s 38.5 CENTS! A fill-up of 17 gallons on the crime victim’s huge Lincoln sedan was a brisk $6.55! That’s about the price of a gallon today in a few big metropolitan areas (try California). These old TV shows are wonderful to watch for their backgrounds and such historical views. I took the photo on April 19, 2022, at our home here in Naples, Fla., as I watched the re-run on our DVR.
