OK! It’s the season of Halloween 2022! I’m doing a countdown of my 17 favorite horror flicks that I’ve reviewed for my blog … and today’s finds us at No. 9: “Shaun of the Dead.” After Jamie Lee Curtis and slasher films, I most enjoy flicks with zombies. From the original “Night of the Living Dead” in 1968 to its sequel “Dawn of the Dead” in 1978, movies about zombies are fun (and gory). Yet, it took “Shaun of the Dead” starring and co-written by Simon Pegg in 2004 to take the genre to new heights and I don’t mean fast-moving zombies. “Shaun of the Dead” is creative from Pegg and a friend first evaluating LP vinyl albums to choose which to throw at a zombie to the ending sequence where “regular” folks have “married” zombies.
Of course, there’s gore galore in “Shaun of the Dead,” but this movie is so much more if you haven’t seen it … and will be just as much fun if you watch it again.
It’s easy to find and enjoy “Shaun of the Dead” at this Halloween time!
