Today’s “must” movie is “The Warriors” because it is the first movie review that I posted on my blog and today, May 22, 2023, is the ninth anniversary of starting this blog. I’ve expanded my review of “The Warriors” over the years and it remains one of the more “watchable” films in the genre of urban gangs.
Since my posting at 8:09 p.m. on May 22, 2014, I’ve reviewed 378 films and more than two dozen other entertainment-related shows and events. I didn’t realize when I did that first post on that evening in May 2014 that the blog would last for the coming nine years, but I’m glad it has because it’s fun to maintain and I manage to add to just about every day. BTW … “The Warriors” is the story of a gang that gets blamed for killing another gang leader at a big meeting in New York. “The Warriors” are Coney Island-based and travel quite a distance to the meeting. Then, they have to fight their way back home after being wrongly blamed for the killing.
“The Warriors” has more style, from the opening credits to a stylishly baseball bat-wielding gang called the “Baseball Furies,” including Robert Townsend in an uncredited role, than substance, yet it has its dramatic moments.
“Thanks again” if this is yet another viewing of my movie reviews and “thanks for the first time” for those making their initial visit. Watch “The Warriors” … you’ll enjoy it. I guarantee it!
