Today’s “must” movie is “My Blue Heaven,” which is one of Steve Martin’s under-appreciated efforts. It is a comedy about a New York wiseguy who’s relocated and immediately takes back to a life of crime.
Big surprise, right?
What shouldn’t be, but is a surprise with “My Blue Heaven” is what a great job Martin does with his character and the work of the top-shelf supporting cast from Rick Moranis, who plays Martin’s FBI handler, to Joan Cusack, who plays Martin’s prosecutor in his new hometown and becomes Moranis’ love interest.
Along the way with “My Blue Heaven,” you run into other “relocated” mobsters; a new series of crimes by the guys; dancing the “merengue;” and even subplots involving pro baseball, youth baseball and turtles! Of course, everything turns out hunky-dory in the end (and that’s no spoiler in this one).
You won’t have any trouble finding “My Blue Heaven.” Check it out today! You won’t be disappointed. I guarantee it!
