Today’s “must” movie is next in my annual Christmas(time) countdown of flicks. Today, Dec. 20, 2023, finds us getting into the raunchy side of the Christmas season with “Office Christmas Party.” Here’s the party you always dreamed about: it is Christmas-themed; it has booze; it has drugs; it has someone being naughty with a 3-D printer! You know, all the traditional things that a Christmas party offers … but on a raunchier scale!
“Office Christmas Party” is a somewhat newcomer to the Christmas season lineup, but it packs quite a powerful punch. It’s not like the vile crap you get with Billy Bob Thornton in “Bad(der) Santa,” so I can call it a Christmas movie without any guilt over liking it better than “traditional” holiday fare such as the overrated “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
What you have with “Office Christmas Party” is a tech company threatened with its very existence by Jennifer Aniston, who is the person determining the future of the company. The “Office Christmas Party” becomes the last chance for the good folks in the company to land a huge account and save the day.
Well, if a party can be a benchmark in successful commerce, then this one takes the cake, the booze and the drugs!
“Office Christmas Party” has an ensemble cast including Aniston, Jason Bateman, T.J. Miller and Kate McKinnon. Each does a great job, but you’ll again see a movie where Bateman proves while being a solid actor and watchable on the big screen, he’s no headliner.
Just like all my Christmas(time) film recommendations, you won’t have any trouble finding “Office Christmas Party” and you’ll split your sides laughing … I guarantee it!
