Today’s “must” movie is next in my annual Christmas(time) countdown of flicks. Today, Dec. 21, 2023, moves to a great, underrated Christmas movie called “The Family Man.” Here’s the story of a super-rich, super-hard-working financial whiz (even on Christmas as he keeps his staff away from their families at holiday time) who is forced into the Christmas spirit by “Cash Money.”
In “The Family Man,” the Wall Street go-getter wakes up to find that he wound up marrying the woman he left earlier in life and that he’s now a husband and a father. It’s an old story that’s well told in this modern age. You get outstanding performances from Nicolas Cage and Téa Leoni as the headliners and nice work from a supporting cast that includes Jeremy Piven as Cage’s best friend and Don Cheadle as “Cash Money,” who is the spirit of Christmas.
“The Family Man” wends its way through a man and the family he never had or ever thought he would have in his life. It’s totally corny, but absolutely one of the most satisfying movies for the Christmas season.
I cannot write much more without spoiling the effect (my review can do that for you), so, if this is as far as you read, then watch “The Family Man.”
Just like all my Christmas(time) film recommendations, you won’t have any trouble finding “The Family Man” and you’ll love it … I guarantee it!
