A close friend spent the past week doing a bit of hunting pheasant in Iowa. He texted me a couple of photos: One, of the sun in a beautiful sky over one of the bleak cornfields where he did the hunting; and, two, of his dog Jet and the pheasant it just retrieved for him – after flushing the game. My friend enjoys pheasant and none of the hunting is done wantonly just to shoot game – it is all consumed later. The photo with the sun was taken on Feb. 20, 2024, while the photo of Jet was taken Feb. 22. All-in-all, a great week for my friend and his hunting dog!
