For this year, I’m going with the reminder of the fractured phrase: Hooray for Hollyweird! Most of us love movies and I enjoy recommending what you should watch on any given day. So, Hooray for Hollyweird … and for today’s recommendation, let’s find just about the worst movie ever inflicted on the public: “CHIPS” … as in the remake of the iconic tee-vee show.
“CHIPS” is disgustingly bad. It’s prime motivator, director and co-star deserves never to work in Hollyweird again (hint: Dax Shepard). Overall, the so-called writing of the screenplay; the so-called directing; and the so-called acting can be described quickly: At the level of failed dinner theater.
Just to let you know, there was, back-in-the-day, a TV show called “CHiPs” (click here to read my review) about a rookie cop always on probation and the veteran guiding him along. It was a hit over a number of seasons. Well, “CHIPS” the movie can’t even get that straight … yes, you have a rookie and a veteran, but the veteran is an undercover fed (and his name, “Franklin Llewellyn ‘Ponch’ Poncherello,” is a cover name) and … well, and nothing.
Simply put, only an idiot could have come up with that lame idea.
Oh, well. The only thing “CHIPS” has going for it is that co-stars Shepard (“Jon”) and Michael Pena (“Ponch”) bicker well. Wow … I wonder why there isn’t an Oscar in that category?
OK, OK … enough. If you are curious enough, it’s a streaming world, so you won’t have any trouble finding “CHIPS” … and then you’ll definitely say … “Hooray for Hollyweird!”
