For this year, I’m going with the reminder of the fractured phrase: Hooray for Hollyweird! Most of us love movies and I enjoy recommending what you should watch on any given day. So, Hooray for Hollyweird … and for today’s recommendation, let’s take a look at “Just One of the Guys” and a girl going “undercover” as a guy to write a story for her high school newspaper (remember when they allowed those?).
“Just One of the Guys” isn’t a very good film, but it is watchable and that’s always an accolade worth achievement by a motion picture. Joyce Heyser as “Terri/Terry Griffith” is OK, but she was a bit mature to be playing a high school junior (she was 28 at the film’s premiere). Still, you’ll enjoy her transformation and the hilarity that ensues.
I also give credit to “Just One of the Guys” for a nice run-up to the main angle of the film. You get to understand why she’s doing what she’s doing … and the film pulls it off better than what it achieves in a sum total for its work.
Well, with “Just One of the Guys” you get the stereotypes: a BMOC who’s a bully; dim high school students; the friendship with a guy that twists everything around; and the saccharine ending that you saw coming with the opening credits.
All-in-all, you’ll find worse ways to spend 90 minutes of your time than watching “Just One of the Guys” … it’s a streaming world … find it and then you’ll definitely say … “Hooray for Hollyweird!”
