We’re at the cusp of the summer of 2025 and I’m continuing the fractured phrase: Hooray for Hollyweird! Most of us love movies and I enjoy recommending what you should watch on any given day. So, Hooray for Hollyweird … and for today’s recommendation, let’s go with a feel-good flick in “Maid to Order” with Ally Sheedy and Beverly D’Angelo.
“Maid to Order” isn’t a very good film; it has too many stereotypes; and you’ll see everything coming from a mile away. However, it does have its endearing moments and, of course, finishes on a positive note that makes this one not that memorable, but worth your time.
In “Maid to Order,” Sheedy is the spoiled rich girl who gets taught a lesson when she gets arrested and finds out something’s changed in her life: she doesn’t have a rich father any longer. What she does have is a chain-smoking fairy godmother, who explains that Sheedy has travails ahead.
Sheedy becomes a “Maid to Order” in a rich family house and, of course, she learns lessons of humility, true friendship, compassion and teamwork. I’ll let you watch the details of her transformation, but it’s all good. Of course, all of it is stereotypical, too, but don’t let that put you off – most of it is likeable, while much is endearing.
You can’t go wrong, so check out “Maid to Order” … we’re in a streaming day and then you’ll definitely say … “Hooray for Hollyweird!”
