We’re at the beginning of the summer of 2025 and I’m continuing the fractured phrase: Hooray for Hollyweird! Most of us love movies and I enjoy recommending what you should watch on any given day. So, Hooray for Hollyweird … and for today’s recommendation, let’s go with “The Meg” and its simply a rotten flick that has few redeeming qualities, but is so awful that you can actually watch this train-wreck of a movie.
“The Meg” is one of the films that is co-financed by filmmakers in China, so you get one that borrows successful ideas from past films and runs them into the ground with no quality whatsoever (save a few small examples).
In any case, “The Meg” is about a scientific team that explores the bottom of the deepest part of the Pacific Ocean and disturbs a prehistoric shark called a “megalodon” … and hence the name of the movie. Of course, the shark gets loose and goes on a rampage in which the only good part of the film is when it eats one of the annoying characters.
Here’s a direct quote from my review:
“Oh, and by the way, the least surprising of all, it’s a shark movie that rips off ‘Jaws’ in all the worst ways.”
So, it’s summertime and since it is decreed that you watch a shark movie, why not “The Meg?” … we’re in a streaming day and you can easily find it … and then you’ll definitely say … “Hooray for Hollyweird!”
