Back to School! Today (Monday, Aug. 11, 2025) is the first day of school for students K-12 here in Collier County, Fla. All public schools begin today and you could see the iconic yellow buses in parking lots at 7 a.m. as they waited to head out for their first pick-ups of the 2025-2026 school year (top photo). Also, once you arrived in a school zone, it gets colorful with flashing lights, cones and frequently with a Collier County Sheriff’s Office cruiser for traffic enforcement. The second photo here is the front of Pelican Marsh Elementary school near our home here in Naples and it also has a decoy cruiser in the median. I got both these shots this morning as I ran an early errand. The one in front of the school came off my dash cam.
