A cup of midday tea today (Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025) served as a reminder that the 2025 college football season kicks off on Saturday (Aug. 23)! My cup has the traditional “Fightin’ Gator” logo on it and it celebrates my beloved University of Florida Gators. My team doesn’t play until Aug. 30, but this coming Saturday is a welcome reunion with live football on the tee-vee (sorry, fans of soccer, I know your sport is “football” too, but I’ll go U.S.-style with “soccer”). The first game up will be Iowa State at Kansas State in a matchup of preseason-ranked teams.
