Today, Aug. 23, 2025, is national Cuban Sandwich Day! Yes, there is an annual celebration of the Cuban sandwich and it is well-received. The origin of the sandwich is credited to immigrants from Cuba to Tampa and Key West much earlier than the 1960s. So, in celebration of the Cuban sandwich, which occurs each year on Aug. 23, I got this sandwich today from McAlister’s Deli. I’d enjoy be back in Little Havana in the 1970s (I was born in Miami). So, a salute to Cuban Sandwich Day! I got this shot at our home here in Naples, Fla., on Aug. 23, 2025.
