Each Feb. 14 isn’t just Valentine’s Day, it is also international Library Lovers Day and international Book Giving Day! Both the book and library days are meant to celebrate two things that go hand-in-hand: libraries and books. I love both and today (Feb. 14, 2026) I plan on visiting my favorite library (Headquarters branch of the Collier County Public Library) as well as reading a book printed on paper – not presented on a screen. I’m not ashamed to say I’ve come to embrace electronic publishing with my Kindle devices, but my love of reading was founded and is anchored in the printed word. I’m using a photo of the stacks at my local library that I took on Dec. 10, 2024. PS: Feb. 14 is also national Cream-Filled Chocolate Day!
