I caught both an unusual as well as usual sight on my vehicle’s dashcam this morning (Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026): a “panther” for the former and a dead squirrel for the latter. The “panther” was a nicely restored De Tomaso Pantera mid-engine sports car (“Pantera” in Italian translates to “panther” in English) and the dead squirrel was a, well … a dead squirrel (many of which you see squished mostly flat on neighborhood streets just about anywhere). The Pantera is an Italian sports car sold by Lincoln-Mercury dealers in the U.S. from 1972-1975 under the Mercury flag and remains as totally “cool” in my book even today. I got this shot off the dashcam video and it was taken in the neighborhood next to our community here in Naples, Fla.
