Welcome back to my blog. Here’s my recommendation of a movie to check out today and hope you punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” OK, today, let’s really change gears with the crime drama “The Big Easy” that you’ll find is also a bit of a romance film. However, no matter the emotional energy between co-stars Dennis Quaid and Ellen Barkin, the film is a convoluted crime story that’s basically gritty and absolutely well-told.
“The Big Easy” is the story of a new prosecutor (Barkin) who arrives in New Orleans to investigate bad doings within the New Orleans police department. A charming detective (Quaid) becomes the flame to her moth, although she resists at first.
Underlying all the emotional fire that first smolders and then explodes into a white-hot flame, the seedy and nasty underbelly to what’s happening with the cops in the Big Easy, as New Orleans is nicknamed.
While the headliners sizzle in “The Big Easy,” the supporting cast is solid and makes sure this one is a winner and not an also-ran. From John Goodman to Ned Beatty to Charles Ludlum, who plays a cultured, oily lawyer on both sides of the moral fence.
“The Big Easy” has a quite complicated plot and you’ll have to maintain focus to follow along and try to stay ahead of the storytelling. By the end, in which just about every character is damaged in some way, you’ll have enjoyed this little-recognized cinematic gem.
So, I say punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” or and watch “The Big Easy.” It’s available on a variety of streaming platforms. So, find it! Watch it! Don’t worry, you’ll thank me later for “The Big Easy.”
